Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreement Solicitors

Pre and post nuptial agreements

In recent years the court have been willing to place an increasing amount of weight on pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, provided certain safeguards are met and so it is important to take independent legal advice.

Our specialist family solicitors in Portsmouth and Waterlooville can help you with these important agreements.

Pre-nuptial agreements

If you are getting married, you may be concerned about protecting your assets or even the interests of children from a previous relationship. If this is the case, it may be beneficial to you to enter into a pre-nuptial agreement (also known as a pre-nup, premarital agreement, or prenuptial contract) setting out how your assets will be divided in the future.

If you are considering making a pre-nuptial agreement and would like to find out more, contact our specialist family lawyers today on 023 9298 1000.

Post-nuptial agreements

A post-nuptial agreement (also known as a post-nup or post-marital agreement) is an agreement entered into during marriage which sets out what should happen to each partner’s assets after divorce.

They are sometimes used, for example, to deal with inheritance that occurs during marriage. If the couple ever divorce in the future, then the agreement will be one of the factors the court considers when dealing with assets.
